Herla the Beautiful 2 by Pickleweasel360 Herla the Beautiful 2 by Pickleweasel360
The amazingly beautiful Herla is owned and commissioned by [link]

I am very happy with the way she turned out. She has so many details I was afraid at first I couldn't do Herla justice, but I think I came pretty close. This is the most detailed piece I have ever done.

I wish I had time right now to give a better description, but I am about to leave, so I will spend my time uploading a lot of angles so you all can see her.

Here are some different angles of her and detailed views:

It is a deer. Its from a game called the Endless Forest. You can customize the deer with special pelts and accessories.

Lots of practice lol She took a long time but all those little details were worth it :) I've been doing this a little over a year.

I bet. How do you even make these?

Well all but the feathers are made from crochet yarn. She has an internal wire frame that makes her poseable and lets her stand upright. The feathers are made by painting very small ones and then cutting them to fit the shape of peacock feathers(or as close as possible)

What a funny-looking creature :D I like it! But how do you do those legs? Do you put some iron wire inside them or what?

She is based on a character made by :iconsighthoundlady: This is what the real Herla looks like sighthoundlady.deviantart.com/art/Herla-Reference-Sheet-279107604

She had an aluminum wire skeleton inside so she can pose in different ways and hold herself up.

do you know any good places to learn how to crochet?

Well Ravelry.com has a lot of free patterns to practice with. When I started I looked up how to do the actual stitches. Single crochet, increase, decrease, and then got a few easy patterns to try. :D

Thank you! :hugs: Since I started making these deer I've got a lot of watchers. I feel so special :D I like your L4D dolls. I haven't tried making a person yet. I love the one with the blue hoodie! (I haven't played the game so I don't know much about them.) How long have you been crocheting?

 Well, they are totally awesome! You deserve the attention! The guy with the hoodie is a Hunter, and he is my favorite too! =D

I begged my mom to teach me how to crochet when I was 4! I am left handed, so it was hard for her to teach me, and I ended up mainly teaching myself. I'm 28 now, and I have only been making my own patterns for about 5 years. My goal is to someday make a full sized person out of crochet! Lol. I know I'm crazy for wanting to do that. =P

Thank you! I have never done a person before. If I did I would make one based on my fav show/movie. My best friend and I love Supernatural and Boondock Saints, so it probably be from one of them. My best friend is left handed too!
I taught myself as well but I watched a few instructional videos to make sure I was doing it right. I can't imagine trying to learn it left handed. I only ever see right handed tutorials. Is it the same except the stitches lean a different way?
My Grandma had taught me to do chain stitches when I was 8 or 9. I thought I was doing something special haha. I didn't start trying to do actual crochet pieces until July of last year.
A full size person would be amazing! While that baby fawn was here I measured everything I could think to measure. Lots of things measured only 1 - 1 1/2 inches, like his hooves and nose :D I thought about making a full size fawn. I wouldn't have to make a lot of changes to my pattern especially if I used Chunky yarn.
If you make a full size person I will bring my full size fawn over to take group photos! X3

I just logged into DA and saw this in my inbox, what a nice thing to wake up to this morning! She turned out so very lovely! It all came together perfectly I love her long elegant legs, you even added her accessory digits too and I love how you made the “hair” around her tail floofy, it’s perfect! Her face is so delicate and sweet too, lipstick! Really impressed with how well you achieved all her markings. Thank you so much again, I can’t wait until she is in my hands.

Besides making the pattern, I think she might be my favorite crochet piece I have ever done! I am so happy she turned out this well. The other deer on my desk will be sad to see her go but they know she was only visiting. :)

I have enjoyed this challenge so much. She is beautiful I'm glad I could capture her this well in crochet. I can't wait for you to hold her for yourself!
